Mind Body Skills for Teens NEW

Learn tools from the renowned Center for Mind Body Medicine model, which has helped young people find their inner resources for healing. This evidence-based program has empowered thousands around the world build resilience, heal from trauma, and cultivate compassion and hope in crisis. This offering is 8 weeks and includes components for exploring possibilities for post-traumatic reflection and healing.
Parents, guardians or caregivers should register on behalf of teen participants and will be asked to sign a waiver and caregiver agreement for the teen participant(s) to be admitted into the program.
Program instructors are certified facilitators by the Center for Mind Body Medicine, qualified to work with all ages of youth and teens.

Sunrise on the Sand started as a monthly offering to build connection, compassion and community well-being in early 2015 on the shores of Fort Lauderdale Beach. We recently joined forced with Diversity Aquatics/Blue Mindfulness and the Mind Body Resiliency Coalition of Broward to create a unique weekly Mindful Broward Community of Practice at the Historic Black Beach (Von Mizell Eula-Johnson State Park) in Dania Beach, Florida. All are welcome. Each Sunday movement and meditation practices are led by diverse qualified teachers of evidence-based Mindfulness, Mind Body and Blue Mind modalities in our community. Practices follow are culturally responsive and trauma-informed. RSVP with a valid email address in order to receive updates.

Life for most Teens today presents…Lack of certainty and structure, Pressure to perform, Too much media, Too little face to face contact, Increased anxiety and depression, Increasing witness of grief, loss and racial injustice.
Mindfulness tools can help by…Increasing self-awareness, focus and concentration; more calm, compassion, and empathy; skillful response to difficult emotions and stress; an overall sense of well-being and empowerment. It also builds an awareness of the systemic forces that cause harm and invites empowered conscious action toward justice and change. The course applies the evidence-based Gina Biegel's Stressed Teens and MBSR-T modified curriculum in virtual format over 8 weekly sessions on Tuesdays, 4 -6 pm.
Pre-screening with Parent Interview (waiver must be signed) required for participation. A maximum of 12 students per class. Enrollment on a first come first serve basis.
