In a world that is fast-paced, stressful and demanding, this approach guides parents to be self-aware, present and responsive to our children instead of distracted, controlling and reactive. A mindful parent is imperfect, vulnerable, and willing to learn from our children, and skillfully balances boundaries with love and compassion. By transforming ourselves as parents, we empower our children to be their authentic selves and find their own path to fulfillment and success.

8:30am - 11:00am: Nature Walk, Mindful Beach Clean Up and Mangrove Planting, Ecological and Historic Black Beach education.

At the gate mention you are with our group for FREE entry. We meet at Parking lot 3 opposite the Environmental Education Center.

Opportunity for Student Volunteer Service Hours. Adults must accompany children. No lifeguard on duty.

A Mindful Broward Weekly Community of Practice

All welcome 

Sunday mornings
Movement and Meditation 

8:00 am - 10:00 am 

Sunrise on the Sand started as a monthly offering to build connection, compassion, and community well-being in early 2015 on the shores of Fort Lauderdale Beach. We joined forces later in 2020 during COVID with Diversity Aquatics and the Mind Body Resiliency Coalition of Broward to create a unique weekly Mindful Broward Community of Practice at the Historic Black Beach (Von Mizell Eula-Johnson State Park) in Dania Beach, Florida. We now meet monthly on the second Sunday of each month. All are welcome. Movement and meditation practices are led by diverse qualified teachers of evidence-based Mindfulness, Mind Body and Blue Mind modalities in our community. Practices that follow are culturally responsive and trauma-informed.  RSVP with a valid email address to receive updates.

The Evidence-based program created by Jon Kabat-Zinn

Participants of this Evidence-Based MBSR program say they experienced: enhanced memory and focus, ability to live in present time, creativity in problem solving, better communication, increased emotional control, healthier stress response. The Instructor: Mrs Knellee Bisram is the Founder of AHAM Education, and a Certified MBSR Instructor with 30 years of mindfulness and meditation experience.
