MBSR is an experiential program based on the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness is " the awareness that arises from paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally." It enables individuals to step out of ‘automatic pilot’, and to connect and respond to daily life with increased awareness and self-control. Pioneered by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979, MBSR is an evidence-based program being offered at hospitals, work and learning environments nationwide. Research shows that participants experience many benefits such as enhanced memory and focus, ability to live in present time, creative problem solving, better communication, increased emotional control and healthier stress response.

Learn tools from the renowned Center for Mind Body Medicine model, which has helped young people find their inner resources for healing. This evidence-based 8-week program has empowered thousands around the world build resilience, heal from trauma, and cultivate compassion and hope in crisis.

Parents, guardians or caregivers should register on behalf of teen participants and will be asked to sign a waiver and caregiver agreement for the teen participant(s) to be admitted into the program.

Program instructors are certified facilitators by the Center for Mind Body Medicine, qualified to work with all ages of youth and teens.

El programa de Reducción de Estrés Basado en la Atención Plena o Mindfulness (MBSR) fue fundado por el Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn en la Universidad de Massachusetts en 1979 como intervención sanitaria que complementara a las medicinas para sus pacientes que sufrían de depresión y ansiedad.Este programa ofrece a los participantes, por medio de prácticas de respiración, ejercicios de estiramientos suaves y meditación basados en la atención plena, la oportunidad de explorar el escenario interno emocional y cultivar una respuesta positiva y proactiva al estrés de la vida diaria. Hoy en día el programa es adaptado para varios ambientes profesionales y educativos, y diversas comunidades: padres, jóvenes, estudiantes, profesionales, personas hospitalizadas, encarceladas, recluidas en establecimientos psiquiátricos. Sunrise on the Sand is a monthly offering to build connection, compassion and community well-being that started in early 2015 on the shores of Fort Lauderdale Beach. All are welcome. We meet on the third Sunday of every month led by various qualified teachers of Mindfulness and Mind Body modalities in our community. All practices follow an evidence-based protocol and are secular in nature. Our sessions are now online due to COVID-19. All participants must register with a valid email address for security reasons in order to access sessions.
