Back to School with a Beginner's Heart and Mind

The beginning of the school year can trigger a whirlwind of activity and fatigue, but it is also an opportunity to recommit to our goals, set new intentions, approach our routine with a fresh perspective, and re-assess our Habits of Heart and Mind.

Whether you are new to mindful awareness practices, yet to learn about it, or a long-time practitioner, circulating thought and distractions can often usurp our attention and cause us to be unfocused, stressed and even unhappy with the status quo. Not to worry, the beauty about mindfulness is that it's a portable, readily available, and fiercely forgiving practice.

If you feel like you've "fallen off the horse" or you'd like to learn ways to deal with stress or anxiety: in the very moment when you have that thought... STOP, Take a breath, and open one of your senses... hear the birds, feel the breeze, see the beautiful sky, wake up and smell life in the present. Observe what is happening... in your body, in your mind, in your heart... now, Proceed with kindness. Share your experience on our facebook page or via twitter and include #MindfulSTOPpractice. If you'd like to learn more, or simply deepen your current practice, check out one of our Mindfulness class offerings for the Fall for Adults and Children or drop in for an ongoing Meditation class. If you have any questions drop us a line at ahameducation@gmail.com, we would love to hear from you! With love and gratitude, Knellee Bisram, Founder & CEO Academy of the Heart and Mind | AHAM Education Inc.
